Umami – Sushi & Curry at Nördlicher Stadtgraben 18/1 brings Japanese and Indian cuisine together under one roof in Aalen's city centre. Owner Umair Ali, who previously cooked in Dubai and New York among other places, opened the small restaurant in 2022 and prepares every dish himself – fresh and on an intimate scale, with 22 seats at eight tables.
The menu features sushi, maki, sushi bowls, bento boxes and curries such as butter chicken or red, yellow and green curry. The bento box is served at lunchtime between 11:00 and 15:00; all dishes are also available to take away, and orders can be placed in advance by phone. In reviews, guests particularly praise the freshness of the food and the owner's friendly service.
